The Tova Vickar Family Childcare Program

At the Tova Vickar & Family Childcare Centre, we aim to connect families with young children to Jewish life and our synagogue community. We offer a safe, inclusive, accessible, stimulating childcare experience in a warm, accepting Jewish environment. Our ambition is to promote the development of a strong, proud Jewish identity while engaging our families. We hope to instill a sense of pride and commitment in children regarding Judaic culture, heritage, and religion.

We are a Jewish play-based centre where Early Childhood Educators facilitate learning through play. Although there is some structured Judaic learning time throughout the day, we believe that play provides the foundation for learning and understanding in all areas of development. We recognize that no two children are alike; therefore, each child is viewed and respected as an individual in their learning process. We approach each individual child’s needs and inquiry with respect, understanding, patience, and enthusiasm.

We strive to create a caring environment where young children can learn and grow while embracing their Jewish identity. We enable the children to freely inquire, explore, and learn from their environment. Our program incorporates arts, culture, and sciences in addition to key Jewish teachings to guide inquiry, conversation, and critical thinking. Children are offered a Kosher Lunch from our catering department, as well as mid-morning and mid-afternoon Kosher snacks daily.
